Roadway Displays opened its doors in Ramona, California back in May 1987. Owner and CEO Bob Barrett, who had recently retired from the billboard industry, recognized a need to help cities educate and promote their recycling efforts and community messages. Armed with only a smaller version of his standard size frame, no previous clients, no pictures, or anything else for the city to look at, Bob took his idea to the City of San Diego and made his sales presentation. After a few meetings with different city officials, Bob was issued a purchase order for 80 frames, and Roadway Displays was now in motion. Within 3 years the second largest city in the United States, (the City of Los Angeles) was interested in utilizing the Roadway Displays' "Quick-Change" Frame and Panel System.

Today, Roadway Displays is operated out of Temecula, California, and is celebrating 21 years of being in business. Roadway Displays now services cities throughout the United States and Canada. The "Quick Change" frame and panel system is listed in most trash body manufacture's catalogs. Bob states that, one of the reasons for the company's success is the customer service, which is prided to be second to none. Bob is teaching his entrepreneurial skills and business savvy to his successor, his son Dennis Barrett. Dennis is continuing the same level of pride, commitment, and dedication to customer service that was started by Bob 21 year's prior.
